arrested by the KGB and faced a similar fate.
Hear how God delivered him and brought him to the United States to receive an
advanced degree from the Juilliard School of Music in New York. George was an

"Bro. Calvin's Comments"
It’s hard to believe that it’s Christmas time again. Christmas décor fills
the stores and we begin to plan visits with family and friends. Our calendars
fill with parties, fellowships, meal planning, and shopping.
As I thought about all this, the Lord brought to mind Micah 5:2, which says
“Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; One will come from
you to be ruler over Israel for Me. His origin is from antiquity, from eternity”
(HCSB).
Like the wise men that came to Jerusalem seeking the One born King of the Jews,
many expect to find God in the big places and the big events. Yet the Lord chose
that Jesus (the Bread of Life – John 6:35) would be born in the small town of
Bethlehem (which means “house of bread”). God has not always chosen the
strongest, the biggest, the fastest, or the most famous to do His will. He often
has chosen the weakest, the smallest, the slowest, or the least known to fulfill
His will. Jesus Himself had “no appearance that we should desire Him” (Isa.
53:2b). What lesson is there for all of us? Simply this - no one is
insignificant in the eyes of our Lord Jesus. You have opportunities to serve our
Lord in this life. There is no action that is too small and insignificant in the
kingdom of God. If you are a believer, God has entrusted you with His Gospel. As
you celebrate Christmas this season, remember that the Lord loves you, has
promised to always be with you, and will one day come and receive you to
Himself. I encourage you to share this with your friends and family this year.
“How silently, how silently The wondrous gift is giv’n! So God imparts to human
hearts The blessings of His heav’n. No ear may hear His coming But in this world
of sin, Where meek souls will receive Him, still the dear Christ enters in. O
holy Child of Bethlehem! Descend to us, we pray; Cast out our sin, and enter in,
Be born in us today! We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell; O
come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Immanuel!” Phillips Brooks, “O Little Town
of Bethlehem,” Baptist Hymnal (1991), 86.

“And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it
is He who will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
NASB
Jesus, that wonderful name, means God is salvation, the Lord saves! This
baby born to Mary was God coming to save His people. He came not to save
them from the physical world around them, but to save them from their
sins. Jesus came to provide the only way possible for sin to be
completely forgiven. With sins forgiven, He gives eternal life to those
who would trust in Him. Jesus came as a baby born in a manger to be the
Savior for the world.
Lord Jesus, I am thankful for the salvation and the full, meaningful,
and everlasting life You have provided for me. Help me to share with
others the good news of forgiveness and salvation.

The greatest gift you could ever give to someone is to lead them
to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. One great way to encourage them
is to invite them to Sunday School with you. Call someone you know and
invite them to come with you this Sunday! Maybe that someone is a member of
your family. Encourage them to come with you this Sunday! Let us fill up the
Lord’s House this Sunday!
May you have a wonderful Christmas
and New Years with your family and friends.
Spend time honoring Jesus with your family.
Sing carols, read the Christmas story, and pray.
Merry Christmas!
to all our wonderful church family!
With love, from Daniel, Anna, Patty, & Max.
Invite someone today to Sunday School
and Worship!
