Calvin's Comments" What difference does Jesus’ resurrection make? Let’s look at a person who went from success to failure to success and discover the difference His resurrection made. This person worked in a family-owned business and ran it well. He was successful, yet he still worked very hard each day. Like others before and after him, he left his successful business to pursue another venture. He learned quickly and made a few mistakes along the way. As his internship was ending, he had a major test. The once successful businessman failed. He was ashamed, humiliated, disgraced. His failure was so complete that he decided to return to his previous business venture. Mark’s gospel records two words that speak to the failure of this man. When the man dressed in white spoke to the women at the empty tomb of Jesus, he said, "Go! Tell his disciples and Peter…" And Peter. The man who failed Jesus, the man who denied knowing Jesus received a personal message – come meet the resurrected Jesus. What difference did the resurrection make in Peter’s life? From a denying disciple he became a faithful-unto-death disciple. He preached the good news – Jesus died for Peter’s own sin as well as everybody else’s sin, Jesus arose the third day from the grave, and Jesus forgave him and gave him a new mission. Peter continued to learn how to live for Jesus and relate to other people. Nevertheless, Jesus took the man who failed the test, restored him and empowered him to live for Him. Have you failed at an endeavor? Have you experienced restoring grace? Have you personally met Jesus and experienced His forgiveness? What difference has the resurrection of Jesus made in your life? May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. Bro. Calvin
This month we have a number of special and important dates that I would like to stress. First is our Easter celebrations. The Eggstravaganza is Saturday, April 4, at 1:30 p.m. This is a wonderful time for preschoolers and younger children in our community. We need your help with this event. The Easter Sunrise Service will be April 12, at 6:45 a.m. in the Prayer Garden followed by breakfast!
As part of hosting this group, we will need to house them that night. We will need about 12 to 15 homes to provide them lodging for the night. There is a housing sign-up list on the hallway bulletin board. Thanks for your help in making this concert possible!
A youth and young adult worship experience!April 19, May 17 Our Vacation Bible School Clinic is April 21 at 6:30 p.m. We need workers for our Vacation Bible School – June 22-26. Will you volunteer!
