HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS

March 4, 1951 - First Baptist Church of Minden began a mission called The Sibley Road branch of First Baptist. Rev. Billy Smith was Mission Pastor.

July 12, 1953 - Organized into a self-supporting church, Southside Baptist Church was selected as the name. Billy Smith was first pastor and served until August 1, 1954. There were 162 Charter members.

October 1, 1954 - David R. Lynn became Pastor. The first pastorium was built, and property was bought to use for Sunday School. Bro. Lynn resigned July 14, 1957.

December 15, 1957 - H. Elton Henderson became Pastor. This was a time of stability and growth. He resigned on November 12, 1959.

April 1, 1960 - B. Frank Walker became Pastor. It was during his ministry that the new educational wing and the sanctuary was built. This was also a time of growth. Bro Walker resigned as Pastor on March 5, 1968.

June 10, 1968 - Willie Woodard became Pastor. Following the evening service on this day, lightning struck the steeple. The sanctuary burned and the educational wing received heavy damage. Six months later the buildings were rebuilt and repaired. The crisis resulted in renewed fellowship, strength and unity. Bro Woodard resigned on March 17, 1974.

September 1, 1974 - Floyd Lisenby became Pastor. A new fellowship hall and kitchen were completed in 1976. Bro. Lisenby resigned December 1, 1978.

September 2, 1979 - Lloyd H. Brown became Pastor. Debt on fellowship hall and kitchen was paid. A van was purchased. The sanctuary was renovated. Bro. Brown left in 1985.

March 9, 1986 - Eddie Clement became Pastor. It was during his ministry that the church made the decision to move to a new location. The church purchased 13.25 acres on Lewisville Road north of Minden. Since then an additional acre has been purchased. Building plans were adopted and efforts to raise the money to build were begun. Bro. Clement resigned on September 29 1992.

1992-93 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 112.

May 2, 1993 - Roy Dale Strother became Pastor. Plans were completed to build on the new property. The church voted November 14, 1993 to change her name. The name change was to become effective upon the move to the new location. Southside Baptist Church would now be known as North Acres Baptist Church. Construction on the new building began in February 1994 with the help of volunteers from Louisiana and Texas.

1993-94 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 120.

August 28, 1994 - Last service in Sibley Road building

September 4, 1994 - First worship service in new building.

September 11, 1994 - Dedication of new building.

1994-95 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 132.

1995-96 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 138.

1996-97 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 139.

1997-98 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 158.

1998 - This was a great year for our church. We burned the note on our building, voted to build a new educational building, and started our "Challenge to Continue" (to Build and Grow) campaign. Our pledges enabled us to begin building an educational building.

1998-99 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 190.

November 1999 - We dedicated our new educational building.

1999-2000 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 209.

June 2000 - Max Hutto was called as our Minister of Music and Education.

2000-01 -- Average Sunday School Attendance = 219.
We had 62 additions this church year. We baptized 29.

September 9, 2001 - We set a new record for Sunday School Attendance: 289.

November 2001 - Chis Kopp was called as our Minister of Youth.

September 2002 - Life Changing Tent Revival! - Attendance between 200 & 300 each night. - Over 50 decisions for Christ. - Evangelist: William Blackburn - Music Evangelist: Mark Tullos

February - April 2004 - Participated in 40 Days of Purpose campaign.

March 2004 - Chis Kopp resigned as our Minister of Youth.
- Ashlie Mixon was called as our Minister of Youth.

April, 2004 - Team-Impact Crusade

May 2005 Purchased the Phillips property next to our Ed building.
- Ashlie Mixon resigned as our Minister of Youth.

June 2005 - Shane Waites was called as our Minister of Youth.

February - March 2006 - Life Action Revival! - a unique revival ministering to the entire family.

April 2007 - - Tent Revival! - A Life Changing Event!
with Evangelist: Bill Britt, Music Evangelist: Phillip Willis, Plus Special Musical Guests

November 2007 - Roy Strother resigned as our Pastor.

January 2008 - Calvin Hubbard called as our Transitional Pastor.

December 2008 - Shane Waites resigned as our Minister of Youth to attend Seminary.

September 2009 - AWANA for Children and Preschoolers began
